How to Check on the Status of a Pennsylvania Birth Certificate

Birth certificates can be ordered online with VitalChek Express or through the mail with the Pennsylvania Division of Vital Records. VitalChek Express is a government approved service that issues certified vital records. You can also check the status of your birth certificate order with both methods--online with VitalChek and by phone with Pennsylvania Division of Vital Records.

Instructions

      Have your original or copy of your receipt handy because you will need information from it. Log onto the VitalChek website at www.vitalchek.com. Select "My Order" tab located in the upper right hand corner of the web page.

      Enter your order and pin number in the appropriate field. All this information is included on your receipt from your order.

      Click the "Go" button to view the order of your status. You can also call VitalChek's customer service department at 888-497-0011 to check the status of your order.

      Have your canceled check information on hand before you place the call to Pennsylvania's Division of Vital Records at 877-724-32584 or 724-656-3100. If you have submitted your order by mail you have to call the customer service department to check the status of your order.

      Provide them with your order information. This includes the person named on the birth certificate, your mailing address and if necessary, your canceled check information.

      Confirm your delivery date.
