How to Take Free Mandated Reporter Training: NYS

According to the state of New York, people in certain professions that call for interaction with children are mandated reporters. By law, they must report any instance of child abuse or mistreatment they encounter in their jobs. These jobs can include a doctor, a nurse, dentist, social worker, optometrist and chiropractor. Free online training for mandated reporters is available through the Mandated Reporter Resource Center.

      Go to nysmandatedreporter.org and click on the text "Training Course."

      Click on "Register for Self-Directed Online Training." This will bring up a registration form.

      Fill in your information and click "Submit." Another tab should open with a password field and a link.

      Copy and paste the password on the new tab. Click on the link to go to a two-hour interactive video. An email with the same information should be sent within five minutes. The video will be available for 30 days.

      Take a short true/false quiz after the video. A certificate of completion will arrive within 48 hours.
