Alvah H. & Wyline P. Chapman Foundation, Inc.

• The Alvah H. & Wyline P. Chapman Foundation was formed in 1967 as an organization to promote charity. The foundation offers grants to child daycare centers that incorporate innovative and creative programs. Average grants range from $1,000 to $5,000, although on rare occasion, up to $15,000 has been awarded. Funds are intended for operating cost support, endowments and specific projects.

• Georgia Power is a utility company that serves 2.35 million people in 159 Georgia counties. The company has a strong commitment to giving back to the community, causing the creation of a foundation program. The Georgia Power Foundation offers several grants for community enrichment projects such as day care facilities. Interested groups must not be schools, religious groups, political organizations or support partisan issues. Grants are valued up to $10,000 and distributed on a quarterly basis.

Fuller E. Callaway Foundation, Inc.

• The Fuller E. Callaway Foundation was formed in 1943 as a way to contribute to charitable purposes. Since its creation, the foundation has ranked 30th among the private foundations in southeastern United States for charity funding. The foundation's grant program is distributed four times a year and is primarily given to projects in LaGrange and Troup County, Georgia, although exceptions are made. Grant amounts vary, but a $10 million gift was once awarded to a Georgia higher education facility. Interested groups must submit an application, along with building plans, financial statement, operating budged and list of board members.

Abreu Charitable Trust

• The Abreu Charitable Trust was established in 1969 after the death of May Patterson Abrue, a woman who was awarded "Woman of the Year" for her charitable deeds. The trust now offers grants to children and youth services, such as day care centers. Interested organizations must be in the Atlanta metro area only and use funding for program development, matching funds, capital campaigns and seed money. Funding is distributed twice a year. Along with the grant application, groups must include two to three page description of budget plan and a list of board of directors.
