The Importance of LinkedIn Profiles for Caregivers
A few years ago, I hadn̵7;t heard of LinkedIn. However, one of my babysitting clients encouraged me to join because it̵7;s a popular networking site for professionals. I̵7;ve since landed several jobs because of my profile. Here are a few reasons why LinkedIn profiles for caregivers are important.
Share your resume
I keep a copy of my resume on my computer for easy access, and I now post it on LinkedIn, too. There, it̵7;s easy for potential clients to see. I can also access it easily to make edits when I add new jobs or skills or add relevant volunteer experience and other skills a traditional resume doesn’t include.
Make connections
Nannying can be lonely, so I use LinkedIn to connect with other nannies. I also connect with potential clients on the site.
Join groups
Multiple professional childcare groups frequently share valuable information. I stay on top of nannying trends thanks to these groups and am building a network of professional friends as I comment and post content in my favorite groups. I̵7;ve also found a few local groups that allow me to make friends with nannies in my area.
Get job alerts
Right now, I have a job I love, but when a nanny position is coming to an end or I̵7;m between jobs, I use LinkedIn̵7;s job alerts. It emails me recommended jobs and lets me search available jobs.
Earn endorsements
Previous employers, coworkers and others can give you positive endorsements that improve your reputation as a caregiver and help you land new jobs. Connect with as many people as possible and ask for endorsements that boost your career. Be sure to give endorsements, too.
Thanks to LinkedIn, I have a strong and growing professional network. I recommend it for all caregivers. What̵7;s your favorite reason to have a LinkedIn profile?
