Instructions for Folding Umbrella Strollers
Umbrella strollers are lightweight and easy to use once you know how to fold and unfold them. They fit easily in any car or trunk and can even fit across the floor of the backseat if necessary. A few quick tips can help you fold confidently without getting your fingers pinched.
-
Locate the Latch
-
Most umbrella strollers have a latch that locks once you have opened and pushed down the rear wheels. Once the child is out at a safe distance, find the latch which usually is in the middle of the rear wheel rack and has a plastic tip on it.
Start the Fold
-
Move the latch in the direction it will move, normally to the left. The rear wheel rack will start to loosen and bend. Use your foot or hand to bend the rear wheel rack in half.
Push the Handles Together
-
Push the handles together and fold the rest of the stroller in half.
Closing Latch
-
Some umbrella strollers have a closing latch or lock to keep the stroller from opening while not in use. If yours has one, latch it in place. This is helpful while travelling, especially if you are putting the stroller on a bus or airplane.
Fold Up Tips
-
Most umbrella strollers have a small net bag in the rear for storage of lightweight objects. If you close your stroller with something in the bag, you might have a problem latching the stroller closed. Also, the stroller might fall backward if there are objects in the storage pocket but no child in the seat.
