How to Enroll Your Child in School

Enrolling your child in a school is a task that every parent will eventually have to do. It can be frustrating if you are not prepared for the task at hand.

      The school year usually starts in August or September. If you are new to the area and don't even know where the school is, I suggest getting out a phone book or doing a search on the net for your city's school board. Call them up and tell them your address, they will be able to tell you what school your child will be attending. Most cities have multiple schools and determine which school your child will attend by the closeness of your home to the school.

      Most schools have an early registration period. This enables parents that work to enroll their child at their convenience, instead of the one or two days available at the child's school to enroll. You can find out this information again by calling the school board.

      Ask them what paper work is needed to enroll the child and if the child needs to have a physical or dental paperwork from the doctor. Make sure you show up to the registration early, you are not the only parent needing to enroll a child in school. There will be a line. To cut down on the ammount of time you are there make sure you have everything filled out and ready to go. It should only take a minute in there anyway. All they are going to do is make sure that you have everything you need and then tell you if you don't or say have a nice day.
