How to Deal With a Preschooler Who Is Unhappy With School
Preschool is filled with toys, arts and crafts, playmates and engaging activities, so you may think there is no reason for your child to be unhappy going to school. Unfortunately, preschool can create many undesirable situations for young children. Your child may have separation anxiety, be too shy to make new friends or have trouble sharing the teacher̵7;s attention. Regardless of why your preschooler is unhappy at school, there are several ways you can make the situation easier for both of you.
Instructions
Ask your child what he does not like about school. Encourage him to be open with how he feels. Discuss your child̵7;s issue with her teachers. Remind your child about the fun things in preschool such as friends, toys and activities. Tell your child that everyone has a job to do. Explain that your job is to go to work every day and his job is to go to school. Offer suggestions to your preschooler to help make her day more enjoyable. Remind her that she can always talk to her teachers if she is having a problem. Organize play dates outside of school so your child can get to know his classmates in a more comfortable environment.
