Safety 1st Car Seat Installation
Infants and toddlers should always be placed securely in car seats when traveling in a vehicle. Safety 1st manufactures a line of child car seats, including those made for both infants and toddlers. Keep in mind that to be effective, the child car seat must be installed and used properly. The most common way to install a Safety 1st car seat is by using your vehicle's seat belt.
Instructions
Place the child car seat against a seat in the back of your car. Make sure the back of the car seat is flush against the seat. If necessary, use the semi-recline position to ensure the back of the car seat is flush against the seat. Take the seat belt and insert it through the car seat's belt path. The belt path is in the back of car seat. Buckle the seat belt. Push down on the car seat using your knee. Tighten and lock the seat belt. Attach the car seat anchor to the anchor bracket in the back of the seat. Keep in mind that some cars do not have brackets for car seats. Pull the end of the anchor strap to tighten. Tuck the anchor strap under car seat if your car does not have a bracket. Tilt the car seat forward and back and side to side, to test the how snugly the car seat has been installed. Repeat the process if there is an inch of slack in either direction.
