Funny Ways to Annoy Your Parents

They say patience is a virtue. It follows then that when a child or teen tests the patience of parents, the parents' virtue is at stake. The avenues of annoyance are many. Adults often expect things to happen in a certain way. Randomness annoys parents; therefore, randomness becomes a key to annoying them. It is important to keep their ultimate welfare at heart, though, and stop annoying behavior before things get out of hand.

  1. Around the House

    • Home time yields a multitude of ways to annoy your parents. Tell your parents your pet is mocking you and ask them to make it stop. This works especially well if you have fish. Try drinking out of the wrong side of a glass. Watch the nightly news with Mom and Dad and call everyone who speaks a liar. Wear sunglasses at all times. Tell your parents the light is too bright, or tell them you are hiding from paparazzi. Skulk around corners like a secret agent.

    In the Store

    • Grocery stores have a wide range of props to help you annoy your parents. Try skipping down the aisles singing ̶0;Big Rock Candy Mountain.̶1; Flip through the magazines yelling things like ̶0;Bigfoot married Oprah!̶1; or other random things. Place adult diapers in the cart and point to your mom. Pretend you are a tour guide. Ask the cashier what one jellybean costs. Whenever your mom puts something in the cart, look up with a worried face and say loudly ̶0;Can we afford that?̶1; When your mom uses her credit card, ask her loudly if she thinks it will work this time.

    With Brothers and Sisters

    • Brothers and sisters can really help you annoy your parents. When Mom's or Dad̵7;s back is turned, reach over, slap your arm and yell ̶0;Ow!̶1; Repeat until Mom or Dad gets involved. When your sibling explains you are hitting yourself, scoff and say ̶0;Yeah, right.̶1; Try selling your sibling on Ebay. Pass gas really loudly and blame your sibling. Tell your little sister a monster lives under her bed.

    Random Annoyances

    • Three words: knock knock jokes. Stick an ice cream cone on your forehead and pretend you are a unicorn. Make up new phobias -- tell your parents a new fear every day. Pretend broccoli spears are trees and you are a vicious giant as you eat them. This annoys parents in restaurants especially. Carefully unroll an entire roll of toilet paper. Take a marker and write, ̶0;What are you going to do now?̶1; on the cardboard tube. Roll the paper back up and place on the holder.
