How to Teach Your Child to Tie Their Shoes The Easy Way
When a child learns to tie her shoes, she's likely to consider it a major accomplishment. Learning how to tie their shoes gives children a sense of independence. A popular and easy teaching method is known as the "bunny ears" method. Some suggest using the "around the tree" method, but the bunny ears is easier to master. It can also be beneficial to show a child how to easily untie the shoes by pulling on the ends of the shoelaces.
Things You'll Need
- Shoes
- Shoelaces
Instructions
Have your child take an end of each shoelace in each hand. Tie a single knot against the top of the shoes. Tell your child child to make bunny ears by making a loop out of each lace. The loops can't be too big or too small or they will be hard to work with. Cross the "bunny ears" over each other to form an X. Pull one bunny ear under the X and pull tight to secure the "ears." Repeat on the other shoe. Previous:Early Childhood: Social Development Next:How to be a Good Man
