Indoor Entertainment Centers for Kids in North Carolina

Parents are always looking for destinations that are local, affordable and fun for the entire family. Families in North Carolina have a number of options throughout the entire state for indoor family activities. Many of these destinations combine education, physical activity, creativity and entertainment, so kids and parents enjoy the experience. No matter where you live in North Carolina, you have access to indoor activities for kids of all ages.

The Morehead Planetarium and Science Center in Chapel Hill, is one of the world's largest planetariums and features a 68-foot domed star theatre, several science exhibits, classrooms, observation decks, art galleries, rose gardens and a giant sundial. Kids love quirky history and Korner's Folly in Kernersville will not disappoint. Located on Main Street, the building is the former home of Jules Gilmer Korner, an interior designer, painter and decorator. The home features trap doors, cubby holes, 15 fireplaces, child-sized rooms, artwork and murals. Other destinations in the state that make history fun include the Wheels through Time Museum in Maggie Valley and the Frisco Native American Museum.

    Fitness Fun

    • The younger a person is when they learn the value of fitness, the easier it will be to lead a healthy life. While North Carolina temperatures are typically comfortable, outdoor exercise is not possible on some days. Kids and families can enjoy indoor fitness fun at the All Stars Family Fun Center, located in downtown Goldsboro, which offers inflatable bounce structures, an arcade, softball and baseball batting cages and a 36-hole miniature golf course. Other indoor fitness opportunities in North Carolina include the Jumpin' Monkey in Greenville, Monkey Joe's in Raleigh, ClimbMax Climbing Center in Ashville, the Trianble Aquatic Center in Cary the Raleigh Ice Complex and the Jellybeans Skate Center, both located in Raleigh.
