Although there are several factors that can affect height, you may be able to loosely predict the adult height of a boy using a simple calculation. Add the height in inches of the mother and father. For example, if the mother is 5 feet 5 inches tall and the father is 6 feet 2 inches tall, add 65 inches and 74 inches to equal 139 inches. Add 5 inches to the total of the parents' height. Using the same example, add 139 + 5 = 144 inches. Divide the total by 2. Using the same example, 144 / 2 = 72. The formula indicates the boy will be 6 feet tall. According to the Mayo Clinic website, children usually grow to a mature height of with 4 inches more or less than the prediction.
