How to Build a Spring Wardrobe for Kids
As the seasons change, your kids will engage in a never-ending process of outgrowing and wearing out their clothing. Depending on your location, spring might be a season of warmth, or cold might continue to hold you tight in its grasp. Building a spring wardrobe for your children requires careful organization and planning ahead to ensure that everyone has the separates necessary to get through the season leading up to summer.
Instructions
Take inventory of the clothing your kids currently have for the spring season to determine what you must purchase. Pull clothes out of dressers and storage bins to enable you to see everything that makes up each child̵7;s wardrobe so you can see what separates you need to purchase for your kids. Set aside anything that no longer fits a child to enable you to give it away or pack it away to save for another youngster. Compare the clothing your children have to the minimums necessary to get through the season. Each child needs a wardrobe that includes 10 pairs of underwear, T-shirts and socks, advises Scholastic. Add two or three sweatshirts, three pairs of pants, and two or three pairs of shorts for warm spring days. For girls, add one skirt/top outfit or spring dress, and, for boys, add one coordinated outfit with a short-sleeved shirt and casual pants for nice occasions. Each child should have a pair of athletic shoes for everyday wear and another pair of shoes for dressier occasions. Your kids will also need outerwear to brave the spring elements -- a rain slicker or waterproof windbreaker will do. Fulfill the wardrobe minimums by using clothing you already have -- hand-me-downs or clothing your child wore from previous seasons. Purchase used clothing from rummage sales, consignment stores or thrift shops. Buy clothing new from department stores, specialty stores or boutiques, depending on your clothing budget. Borrow clothes from friends and family when possible. Add special items your children may need during the spring season. For example, if your children play spring sports such as soccer or baseball, they may need shoes and uniforms. If you celebrate religious holidays in the spring, your children may need special outfits.
