How to Find Places to Go with a Baby
You may start to get cabin fever after a few days indoors with your new baby. Crying can put people off at restaurants, and you might not think you can ever go to a movie again. However, several places are becoming more baby friendly, meaning you get out of the house and your baby gets to have some fun, too. Vacations and time out with your friends become possible once you know the best times and places to take your little one out.

Check your local library̵7;s list of scheduled story times. The children̵7;s department may offer a story time just for infants and a care provider. This takes the pressure off of you to entertain your baby for a little while, and you get the chance to socialize with some other parents. Grab a cup of coffee at a local coffee shop with your baby. Your baby may fall asleep while you are there, and you can read a book or enjoy some quiet time. Some coffee shops are baby friendly, and you may find that a local moms' group frequents the shop, giving you another opportunity to chat with adults. Head to your local gym to work out. Some gyms offer classes for mothers and babies, and many offer low-cost or free babysitting. You can also meet up with other moms who put their babies into their strollers to go for a jog or walk. Stroller Strides is such a group, with moms meeting up all over the country. Contact your local movie theater to see if it offers times for parents and babies to watch movies together when few people are present. If your theater doesn̵7;t offer showtimes like this, go to a movie early on a low-volume weekday. Eat breakfast or an early lunch at a restaurant with wide aisles and short wait times for food. You will avoid the crowds and possibly disturbing too many other patrons if you go earlier in the day. Plan your outing so that your baby will have already been fed or right after he has a good nap. Your baby may also sleep during the meal if you go during nap time. Plan a vacation on a cruise ship that caters to families with babies. Royal Caribbean offers a nursery for babies at least 6 months old, and Disney Cruise Lines offers complimentary strollers, cribs, play yards and bottle warmers, and you can purchase other baby supplies on board. You can get away with your partner to enjoy some much-needed alone time and know your baby is in the hands of capable caregivers. Some cruise lines require your baby to be at least 6 months old before you sail, so inquire before you make reservations.
