Baby Hair Styles

Styling your baby's hair can be fun for both you and your little one. Use extra care when styling your baby's hair, because it has not fully grown in. Use some key accessories to help keep wisps at bay, especially since your little one is prone to getting messy. Always use products designed specifically for baby's hair, and do not use any styling products with chemicals in them.

  1. Headbands

    • Headbands are always stylish, and they are worn by the tiniest of babies, teenagers and even adult women. The best hairbands for a baby's soft head will have elastic covered in some type of fabric. The fabric will prevent damage to the scalp and prevent your baby from breaking the elastic. The headband can be worn on the highest part of the forehead and wrap around to the back of the head. You may find that the size of your baby's head will determine how well the headband stays on. Some baby headbands have sweet little details on them such as bows and fabric flowers.

    Pigtails

    • If your baby has enough hair on her little head, you are in luck. Use a couple of soft, extra-small ponytail holders and put a pigtail on top of your baby's head. Gather the hair up gently, and use a wide-tooth comb to help gather the hair into a pigtail. You can do one pigtail on top or two pigtails on either side of the head. Boys can do a similar style. Use water and a wide-tooth comb to comb his hair into a Mohawk shape. Use your hands to bring hair strands together and hold the hair in between your palms for a minute to get them to stick strait up. If the hair begins to fall, use a little more water and repeat the process.

    Barrettes

    • Use a few tiny plastic barrettes to secure your baby's hair out of her face. You can comb her hair to one side and then snap a small barrette into the bangs to secure the hair. This is also a good style if you want to tame a part or if you see a cowlick forming. Pull the hair off of your baby's face and use the barrette to secure the strands on the top of the head, but leave the rest of the hair down. The hair will still be loose and comfortable. This style is great for a party dress or for church, because it has a little bit of a dressy feel to it.
