Haircut Styles for a Baby

Pixie Bob

• Similar to a bowl cut, the pixie bob hairstyle is the shortest type of bob, which is a blunt cut around the circumference of your baby's head. This is ideal for babies with longer hair because it will need to be snipped just below the ear lobes. The style can be left with straight hair or curled along the edges to add volume.

Curly

• If your baby, boy or girl, has naturally curly hair, a quick trim may be the best haircut to retain those beautiful curls. For girls, you can leave the hair long or cut it to a shorter length. If your baby has naturally straight hair, you could trim bangs along the forehead and using sponge curlers, creating curls along the rear of the head. With straight hair, you can also leave the top portion long and just curl the bottom edges.

Short

• If your baby has long locks that you want to do away with, you can cut the hair so it sits above the shoulders for a girl or shave along the edges for a boy. This creates a low maintenance look that is ideal for babies who have a tendency to get into messy situations and parents who don't want to clean mud off the hair. For a boy, you can style it by applying gel in the hair to create very boyish spikes. For a girl, you can keep the hair out of the face by snapping on some pretty hair clips or sliding on a headband.

Basic Trim

• A basic trim is sometimes all the baby needs if he does not yet have much hair. If you notice certain strands are growing faster than others, a quick snip around the head will correct the problem. This is the most practical solution for boys because they tend to have shorter haircut styles than girls. But you can still style a boy's haircut in a variety of ways, including sweeping the front bangs to the side to create a little gentleman.
