Tub-Time Cutie

• Give your photo shoot a bath-time theme. Select a small baby tub to place your tot in, allowing you to wedge him up if he isn't quite sitting on his own yet. Fill the tub with real water and suds, and perhaps even craft his hair into a little faux-hawk, for an authentic look. If you want a tub-themed photo shoot without the water, use fiber-fill stuffing to surround your little one, creating the look of bath-time fun bubbles. For an even more adorable image, integrate some rubber duckies or other toys to the mix.

My Favorite Toy

• Create a record of your youngster's first favorite toy by making this toy the theme of your photo. If your little one has developed an affinity for a tattered stuffed bear, or just won't go anywhere without his tiny rattle, feature this toy in his photo shoot, selecting a background in a color that accentuates the hues of the toy.

Standing Tall

• While your 9-month-old likely won't be able to stand unassisted, you can still get some images of him in a standing pose, showing just how much he has grown since his newborn photo shoot. To capture these images, set out some blocks or other objects that your tot can use to hold himself up. Or help him out by standing on one side of him and having your partner stand on the other, each holding one of his hands to help him stand up as he clings to your fingers.

Dressed For Success

• Give your tot a chance to don some formal attire for her 9-month-old portrait session. Select a formal dress or suit and tie outfit, sized down for the young wearer. If your subject has taken an interest in jewelry, set out a box full of baubles and allow her to pull some out as you snap away, creating the look of a beauty getting ready for a night on the town.
