How to Make a Baby Photo Album
A baby photo album can become a treasured keepsake when your child is older. Though many baby photo albums are available to purchase, you can create your own album to make it a little more special. When you make your own album you can also decorate it however you like and create custom details on the cover, such as a monogram or your child's birth date.
Things You'll Need
- 10-by-7-inch piece of cardboard or chipboard
- 1/2 yard lightweight fabric, such as cotton or linen
- Ruler
- Glue
- Several sheets of white or black construction paper
- Heavy-duty hole punch
- 3 binder rings
- Photo squares
Instructions
Cut two 5-by-7-inch pieces of cardboard or chipboard. Cut two 6-by-8-inch pieces of fabric. Glue the wrong side of one piece of fabric to one piece of the cardboard. Fold the fabric around the edges of the cardboard, and glue it to the underside. Wrap the corners just as you would when wrapping a gift. Cover the other piece of cardboard using the same process as the first. Cut two 5-by-7-inch pieces of fabric and glue them to the backside of the cardboard pieces, covering the fabric edges. Cut multiple pieces of card stock to 5 by 7 inches. Keep in mind the number of photos you would like in the book when making these sheets. Punch three holes on the left side of the cardboard and the card stock pages. You may be able to punch several pieces of card stock at the same time, but you will have to punch the fabric covers individually. Bind the photo album with metal rings. Add photos to your book. Mount your photos on the pages using photo squares. Place your photos in the book in chronological order to help tell the story of your baby's first year. Start with photos of your pregnancy and then move to photos of the birth, your newborn baby and all of your baby's "firsts," such as his first bath, his first meal or his first Christmas.
