What is a Y2K baby?
The name comes from the "Y2K bug," a widespread concern that computer systems would malfunction at the turn of the millennium because they were programmed to recognize dates in a way that wouldn't handle the year 2000 properly.
While the Y2K bug didn't cause the widespread chaos that some predicted, it was a big news story at the time, and the term "Y2K baby" stuck as a way to describe babies born in the year 2000.
