Be a good food role model. Your baby will learn a lot just from watching you. If you sit down and eat with your baby and the rest of the family, she will be more likely to eat what she sees you eating. Incorporate a wide variety of colors and textures into your baby̵7;s diet. Don̵7;t be afraid of getting creative with food mixtures. For instance, you can mix pureed zucchini with pumpkin or broccoli with sweet potato. Shreds of chicken can be paired with beans and cheese shreds. Well-cooked pasta can be served with small pieces of well-cooked carrots. A snack of applesauce and mini-goldfish crackers or blueberries and O-shaped cereal works, too. Offer a new food item once or twice a week over several months. It can take numerous tries for your baby to decide he likes the new food. If your baby decides that he doesn̵7;t like the food, don̵7;t start a battle. Just try again another time. Schedule three meals and two snacks per day as your baby starts eating more solid foods, at around 8 or 9 months of age. This helps establish a healthy eating routine. Offer appropriate serving sizes. You only need to give her 1 to 2 tablespoons of the new food at a time and increase the amount to 3 or 4 tablespoons over time.
