How to Do a Fleece Tie Blanket

A fleece no-sew blanket is used by babies, children and even adults for comfort and warmth. The blankets are easy and quick to make. As they don't require a sewing machine, almost anyone can make the no-sew fleece blanket. The blankets make good personal gifts when you select fabrics individually for the recipient. For example, select material in the person's favorite color or with the logo of a sport team the recipient likes. Fleece is available in a rainbow of colors and many patterns.

Things You'll Need

  • Tape measure
  • Scissors
  • Two pieces of fleece
  • Cardboard
  • Fabric chalk

Instructions

    • 1

Measure and cut two panels of fleece for the blanket. The fleece can be two different pattens or colors or matching. For an adult or teen blanket, make each piece 2 yards, 1 1/2 to 2 yards for a child's blanket and 1 to 1 1/2 yards for a baby blanket.

    • 2

Place one piece of fleece on a flat surface and cut off any sides that have runs. Put the other piece on top and cut so both pieces are the same size.

    • 3

Cut a piece of cardboard into a 3-inch-by-3-inch piece to make the fringes. Place the fringe cardboard piece on the corner of the blanket and cut around three sides through both pieces of fringe. Repeat around the blanket. Repeat on all four corners.

    • 4

Mark the blanket at every inch using the tape measure and chalk. Use the cardboard to cut the fringe at 1-inch sections along all sides of the blanket. Cut the fringe through both pieces of fleece.

    • 5

Tie the pieces of fringe that are on the same place in the blanket together in a knot or double knot. Tie each pair of fleece fringes in knots all around the blanket. Make sure the knots are tight.
