How to Use Cloth Nappies
Knowing how to pin cloth diapers on your babies can make the difference is important for sanitation. One diaper, known in British slang as a nappy, can endure 75 to 100 washes, the equivalent of about $25 worth of single-use diapers. Instead of purchasing 6,000 disposable diapers in the first two years of your baby's life, you might use 60 reusable cloth diapers. If you fill a trash can with disposables every day, you can help the environment by using cloth. (See Reference 1)
Things You'll Need
- 2 safety pins
- 1 cup baking soda
Instructions
Lay the diaper flat on the changing station, then fold 1 inch of the top of the diaper down. (See Reference 2) Fold the bottom corners inward so that the diaper looks like a Chinese food takeout box. (See Reference 2) Place the baby on the diaper with its rear closest to the wider part of the cloth. Bring the front of the diaper up past the baby's private parts, and then bring the back of the diaper to meet the front. (See Reference 2) Use two safety pins to hold each corner and complete the job. The back-side corner should be on top of the front corner. To change the diaper, unpin it an wash it with a 1 cup of baking soda. (See References 2-3)
